In 2018, Simon Roth completed his Master's degree in Information and Computer Engineering with a focus on information security at Graz University of Technology. While taking up employment for IAIK in the role of a student assistant already before finishing his studies, he works as a research assistant for the Stiftung Secure Information and Communication Technologies (SIC) by now.

Research

My primary research- and project fields are:

  • PKI and digital signatures
  • Applied cryptography
  • Cloud computing

My work at IAIK started as one of the leading developers of the qualified, server-based digital signature solution ServerBKU internationally in use by this time, followed by the creation of an IAIK internal project- and time management software. From 2016 to 2018, I was involved in the international, H2020 funded project CREDENTIAL, where my responsibility was to lead the cryptographic implementation tasks amongst several other activities. Currently, I’m working on a new cryptographic library with the ambition to add cloud associated cryptographic technologies, especially proxy re-encryption, to SIC’s toolkit. For the near future, on the other hand, I look forward to the upcoming H2020 funded KRAKEN project where SIC is task leader for the secure implementation of cryptographic components.
