PETRA

Protocol Evaluation Tool for RFID Applications

The PETRA Software was developed during the FIT-IT project ART. It simulates the ISO/IEC 18000 standard for RFID systems. The user can implement own applications by using mandatory reader requests (which are already implemented) or custom requests (which have to be defined by the user) and can define the behavior of Tags when receiving custom requests. The output is a logfile with the exact timing, some internal behavior of reader and tags, and all communication frames of the protocol.

The software is free for non-commercial use. It is delivered with all source files and a manual, which describes the handling of the software as well as the development of new applicatons. For further information or comments on the program, please contact Sandra Dominikus.

A demo version is available online. In the demo version, the user can define various groups of tags and their timing behaviour, as well as the number of timeslots used for inventory. Then the two mandatory requests (Inventory and Stay Quiet) are available which can be used to experiment with the basic functionality of ISO 18000 RFID systems.
