C@R

Collaboration Rural

European Commission funded IP Nr. IST-FP6-34921

C@R aims to boost the introduction of Collaborative Working Environments (CWE) as key enablers catalyzing rural development. According to this strategic goal, the C@R Integrated Project proposes a complete set of research activities and tasks which will
identify, develop and validate technological responses to actual barriers jeopardizing the sustainable development in rural areas.
To achieve this priority objective, C@R will advance on the specification, development, test and validation of a powerful and flexible worker-centric collaborative platform that will significantly enhance the capabilities of rural inhabitants, both, @work and @life, thus leading to a better quality of life and a revalorisation of rural settings.

IAIK will perform research on the feasibility to introduce asymmetric cryptography into passive RFID devices. We think that application of passive RFID devices in professional processes is only useful, if the information stored on the tags is protected against illicit copies or modification. We are optimistic that new approaches and developments will provide possibilities to allow the execution of asymmetric primitives on passive RFID tags, without reduction of the operation range. Our vision is to provide a proof of concept to allow integration of passive devices into schemes using asymmetric cryptography for cryptographic signature of its provided data.

More information is available on the official project webpage.
