Open Source Platform and Projects

In order for e-Government to be widely accepted and used, e-Government projects are run as open source projects whenver possible. By providing our research results in form of open source building blocks creator of e-Government applications can easily adopt recent research results. In order to foster dissemeniation an own open source platform was introduced. The platform egovlabs.gv.at provides and hosts several e-Government projects. This platform is an initiative of Digital:Austria and is driven by the e-Government research group of IAIK.

Some recent developments provided at egovlabs.gv.at:

  • MOA-ID
The MOA ID is used for identification purposes. This module enables secure login via the citizen card as it is already offered for example by “FinanzOnline” and the main association for social security. For further Information see http://moa-idspss.egovlabs.gv.at/.
  • PDF-AS
PDF-AS is an XML based signature technology for signing PDF documents. It has been tailored according to the needs and requirements of so called Official Signatures used in Austrian e-Government. It provides signature verification even based on a paper print out. For further Information see http://pdf-as.egovlabs.gv.at/.
  • MOCCA
MOCCA is an open source citizen card software (middleware for the Austrian citizen card). A speciality of MOCCA: it provides a minimal footprint client which is developed as a Java applet. Thus no local installation at the client side is required. For further Information see http://mocca.egovlabs.gv.at/.
